Meet Our Management Team

Ken McAlpin   Ken McAlpin
President, CEO, Co-Owner

Ken holds a BS in Management and an MBA from St. John Fisher College.  He began his career at Rochester Products division of General Motors, working in Accounting and Computer Operations.  In 1980, he joined McAlpin Industries in a sales capacity.  Ken's community involvement has been extensive, serving on various boards and committees at all levels within the community.  The Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce recognized Ken as the 2000 Small Business Person of the Year.  Ken's corporate focus centers on Sales, Marketing, and Finance, with all Senior Managers reporting directly to him.

Mike McAlpin   Mike McAlpin, CPIM
Executive Vice President, General Manager, Co-Owner

Mike holds a BS in Chemistry and Computer Science from Rochester Institute of Technology. Mike received (and has maintained) his Certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) from APICS and has served this organization both locally and nationally. He was a 1999 recipient of Rochester's "Forty under Forty" award for civic leadership and achievement. Mike's professional focus as corporate officer is in Manufacturing, Engineering, Materials Management, including Procurement, Planning & Scheduling, Inventory, Distribution, Customer Service, and most recently Health, Safety, and Environmental.

 Mark Lockerby   Mark Lockerby
Chief Financial Officer

Mark holds an MBA from Syracuse University with dual majors in Operations Management and Finance. He also received his Leadership Coaching Certification from the University of Rochester’s Warner School in 2011. Mark has spent half of his career with large public manufacturing companies including Emerson Electric, Airgas, Alstom and Pall. Serving in lead Financial operational roles, at divisions of these companies, as well as serving as General Manager for Airgas. The other half of his career has been with medium to large family owned businesses including Sentry Safe, Park Communications and McAlpin Industries. Throughout most of Mark’s career his focus has been on Culture development with emphasis on Customer Focus, Employee Driven, Systems and Process improvement and Creating Value for Customers. He has also played integral role in integrating of acquisitions, new ERP systems, turnaround of underperforming companies improving performance financially, operationally while enhancing Customer and Employee satisfaction. His focus at McAlpin Industries encompasses Finance, Information Technology, Human Resources, Purchasing, and Strategic Planning with emphasis on Customer Focused and Employee Driven Culture that is continuously improving, creating and delivering Value Add to our Customers.
 Matt McAlpin   Matt McAlpin
Director of Sales & Marketing

Matt graduated from SUNY Fredonia with a BS in Business Administration with a dual concentration in Management and Marketing. While earning his degree, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. and served as a reservist. After beginning his career in the home mortgage industry for 5 years, Matt joined the family business in 2010 and represents the third generation of McAlpin Industries. Matt’s corporate focus centers on Sales, Marketing, Estimating, Technical Sales Engineering and Customer Service.
 Torsten Rhode   Torsten Rhode
Director of Strategic Initiatives

Torsten holds a BS in Engineering Mechanics from the United States Air Force Academy, and an MS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Dayton. He served five years of active duty as a Materials Engineer with the Air Force Materials Directorate at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Upon separating from active duty, he spent over 7 years with Mobil Chemical Company in R&D, new product development, quality management, and process engineering. He then worked for Sentry Safe for over 20 years as plant manager, director of engineering and R&D, and as the engineering leader for long-term new product development. He also continued to serve as an officer in the Air Force Reserve, retiring in 2008 with over 25 years of service. He is extensively involved in his community as a long-time member of the local Planning Commission; he led two successful large capital initiatives for his school district; and he coached many youth sports teams for his three sons. His current role at McAlpin Industries is Director of Strategic Initiatives and Engineering, responsible for identifying and executing transformational business projects while leading the engineering organization to help drive McAlpin Industries’ diversification and growth.
 Bill Buchko   Bill Buchko
Director of Business Excellence

Bill Buchko graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology with a BS in Industrial Engineering and has been a Certified Quality Manager and Quality Engineer. Most of his career was with Sentry Safe where he was a manufacturing engineer, manufacturing supervisor, quality engineer, quality manager, manufacturing engineering/maintenance manager, and marketing product manager. His focus with McAlpin is to lead and improve the planning, manufacturing, and quality processes that deliver value to our customers.
