McAlpin Industries Achieves Distinctive OSHA SHARP Status

On June 4, 2010 McAlpin Industries joined an elite group of employers accepted into the Safety & Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). SHARP recognizes employers who operate an exemplary safety and health management system. Companies receiving this recognition are benchmarks for worksite safety and health, and as such they are exempt from programmed OSHA inspections for two to three years.

On February 1, 2010, Senator Charles (Chuck) Schumer visited our facility to discuss the new legislation he introduced the previous week in conjunction with Senator Orrin Hatch, for a new Payroll Tax Credit designed to encourage Job Growth.  To promote that legislation, Senator Schumer chose McAlpin Industries as the manufacturer to visit in Rochester.  He first participated in a roundtable with Business Leaders in the Community, McAlpin Industries personnel, and a group of unemployed workers.  He then took a quick tour of McAlpin Industries and conducted a Press Conference, which was attended by all of our Associates.  The Legislation subsequently became law in March, 2010.

On November 1st, McAlpin Industries was honored by the Rochester Business Alliance as one of Rochester's fastest growing private companies.  We placed 21st out of the hundreds of nominated companies and celebrated at a luncheon at the Rochester Convention Center attended by over 2000 people.

The Rochester Tooling and Machining Association (RTMA) sponsored TV commercials with News Channel 10 to promote manufacturing jobs in Rochester.  Commercials spotlighting McAlpin Industries aired October 15th through October 21st.

On Wednesday August 1, Governor Eliot Spitzer, Mayor Bob Duffy and Upstate Development Director, Dan Gunderson visited McAlpin Industries and toured our facilities.  The Governor was very impressed with the cleanliness of the plant and the wide range of products that we produce.  Governor Spitzer also held a press conference where he announced a financial incentive package to help McAlpin Industries retain and grow jobs here in New York State.
